Formula uOttawa

Powertrain Lead | Formula SAE

OVERVIEW

Ottawa, ON | Formula SAE | 2024 - 2026

As Powertrain Lead for Formula uOttawa, I led the development, testing, and validation of the vehicle's powertrain while working closely with other subsystem leads to integrate the car as a whole. Beyond powertrain, I contributed to composite manufacturing, team logistics, subsystem collaboration, technical presentations, and student mentorship.

Leadership & Collaboration

Powertrain Leadership: Led the powertrain team through design, manufacturing, testing, and validation while coordinating work across multiple engine and intake systems.

Subsystem Collaboration: Worked with other subsystem leads to resolve packaging, integration, and performance constraints throughout vehicle development.

Technical Communication: Presented subsystem architectures, design decisions, and testing results to the team to support engineering decisions and maintain alignment between subsystems.

Engine Assembly & Disassembly: Performed engine assembly and disassembly to identify component failures, diagnose issues, and support the construction of high-performance engines.

Beyond Powertrain

Composite Manufacturing: Contributed to in-house composite manufacturing and fabrication to support vehicle development and reduce reliance on external resources.

Full Vehicle Assembly & Disassembly: Participated in full vehicle tear-downs and assembly, gaining hands-on experience across multiple vehicle subsystems and supporting race car development.

Testing & Performance Tracking: Participated in countless testing sessions, tracking lap times and performance data to evaluate vehicle performance and support development decisions.

Team Representation: Participated in design presentations and technical discussions at competitions and sponsor events, representing the team's engineering work and development process.
